In this review, well take a look at the R550 robotic vacuum cleaner by Coredy. This is an ultra slim vacuum with 1400Pa suction power and a self-charging function. It runs almost two hours on a single charge. It ships with extra edge brushes and a charging station. It has a nice sized dustbin.
Coredy isn’t the first name that comes to mind when it comes to robotic vacuums. In fact, if you’re just beginning your research on vacuums, you might not be familiar with the name at all. The performance of this appliance may surprise you.
Let’s take a closer and see how it stacks up against the big robots in the room.
Note: Although the Coredy R550 supports a mopping function, the mop attachment is sold separately. Since it isn’t included in this shipment, we won’t be reviewing it here.
Features of the Coredy 550 Robotic Vacuum
Dimensions: 12.6 x 12.6 x 2.76 inches.
A height of 2.76 inches is a nice, low profile. This is the type of height that allows the 550 to sneak underneath furniture where many robot vacuums fear to tread.
It’s also a spoiler height, meaning once you get used to a robot vacuum that can easily squeeze under low furniture, anything vacuum that’s taller that gets stuck will be more than a little annoying.
Dustbin Capacity: 500ml
This is a decent sized bin. If you own a smaller home, you may get away with emptying it every other cleaning session.
The filter is effective and is easily cleaned off.
It ships with an extra filter.
Brushes: One roller brush and two edge brushes.
The brushes on the 550 are pretty standard fare. They do the job well but can’t be put in a standout category. In fact, the vacuum ships with a cleaning tool with a razor blade attached. If that doesn’t convince that you’ll be cutting stuff off of the rollers, nothing will.
The edge brushes and the edge cleaning mode itself do a very commendable job in getting those stubborn dust bunnies out of the corners.
Two extra edge brushes and are included in this package.
Charging: Charging Station
This robotic vacuum does return to its charging station when the battery runs low. If it’s over twenty-six feet away from the charging station when it runs low, it takes a little longer to find its way home.
Time to charge is 300 to 360 minutes.
The charging station needs three feet of clearance on each side and six feet in front in order for the vacuum to accurately find its way back and dock successfully.
Battery: 2600mAh Lithium-ion
Battery is solid for what this vacuum needs. Since it has few sensors and no app control, it doesn’t need a bigger battery.
Power: Maximum suction capability is 1400Pa
Obviously, there’s a lot of other vacuums that can pull more debris. 1400Pa is about as low as we like to see here.
Runtime: 120 minutes.
This is a solid runtime for most cleaning sessions. This is where a 2600mAh battery comes in handy.
Cleaning Modes: Spot | Edge | Max | Single Room | Automatic
While the cleaning modes aren’t innovative, they’re better than many robotic vacuums in this price range.
Spot Mode sends the vacuum into a spiral pattern, covering the same area several times until extra debris has been lifted. It was actually surprising as to how well this mode worked, especially when compared to some higher priced models.
Edge Mode forces the vacuum to run along the walls. This vacuum is very efficient along the baseboards.
Max Mode creates a higher rate of suction, allowing for deeper cleaning in carpets. By default, this mode is turned off because it will run the battery down quickly.
Single Room Cleaning sends the vacuum into a single room (you have to close the door) and it runs for 30 minutes before heading back to the charging station. This is great for a play area.
Automatic Mode allows the vacuum to behave in random fashion, continually cleaning until it has completed an entire floor of your home.
Manual Mode means you’re in charge of the remote. Who doesn’t love that?
Sensors: Bumpers/LIDAR (Infrared)
Navigation is done with infrared sensors, one on the floor and one at bumper level.
You can keep the 550 out of certain rooms with boundary strips but they’re not included in this package.
Anti-Drop Sensor: There are three cliff sensors to keep the vacuum from taking a dive down the stairs.
Control Interface: Manual or Remote Control
The remote control ships with the two AAA batteries that are needed.
Warranty: The Coredy 550 has a one year limited warranty.

Feedback on the Coredy 550 Robot Vacuum
What Consumers Like
This is the type of vacuum that pet owners rave about. The Max cleaning mode gets the heavy debris and the rollers do pick up most of the dirt and hair.
Drawbacks
It’s always a little tough to decide if the run time will last through the entire cleaning cycle since this doesn’t have a “smart resume” function.
It’s also a little troubling that Coredy recommends replacing the roller every six months.
Our Thoughts
1400Pa and a 60dB noise level are nothing to brag about but they do get the job done. We did like the Max mode. It seems that without multiple computers onboard, the battery life is good enough for most homes.
If you have more than one pet, you should give this vacuum strong consideration. It definitely does better on hardwood floors, but you can’t ignore how well it performs on carpets.
As long as you’re not trying to impress your Roomba neighbors, the Coredy 550 is a solid choice for a no-frills vacuum. It will more than pay for itself with the hours of time it saves you from having to vacuum every day.
