The iLife V8s showcases a lot of features at an affordable price. It’s a vacuum and damp mop all in one. It has a huge dustbin and plenty of cleaning options to manage any type of cleaning it encounters. It doesn’t use rollers so you never have to worry about tangling issues.
It does have a couple of drawbacks so let’s see what this robotic vacuum can and can’t do.
Features of the ILIFE V8s
Dimensions: 13 x 13 x 3.15 inches.
3.15 inches is a little tall when compared to some slim models, but it should be low enough to squeeze under most furniture without getting stuck. This is about an average height for robot vacuums.
Dustbin Capacity: 750 ml | Water Tank: 300 ml
The bin is incredibly large – even fifty percent more volume than some other models. You would rarely have to empty this vacuum after every cleaning session.
Brushes: Two Edge Brushes
The V8s doesn’t use a roller system. It uses two edge brushes and a self-adjusting suction area in the center. The delight in not having to trim tangles from roller brushes shouldn’t be underestimated. Cleaning vacuum parts is where a lot of people run into problems with their allergies and asthma.
There are two extra brushes included in the shipment.
Charging: Charging Station or AC Adaptor
It takes four to five hours to bring the V8s to a full charge. It starts looking for the charging station after running for about 80 minutes. It doesn’t have a smart-resume feature so it will just start over again after it returns to the base.
Battery: 2600mAh Lithium-ion
It does have an auto-recharge function and will return to the charging base when the battery runs low. 2600mAh works well with the limited amount of computing and sensor readings this vacuum takes.
Power: Maximum suction capability is 1000Pa.
It’s an underwhelming power rating for carpets but will get the job done on floors with hard surfaces. It also works well since there are no rollers to block the suction.
Runtime: 110 minutes of Continuous Cleaning.
While it claims to run for 110 minutes, we noted earlier that it starts to look for its charging station at about the 80 minute mark.
The noise level is about 60dB while running in MAX mode. Under normal conditions, it’s quiet enough to not really bother anyone unless they’re trying to listen to music.
Cleaning Modes: Vacuum and Mop
The V8s cannot detect the difference between a hard floor and a carpet. You’ll have to use boundary barriers (not included) to keep them separate. The vacuum uses two different bins for each task.
The motors are integrated into the dust bin and storage tank. As this is the case, you should never wash the dust bin or submerge the water storage tank.
Vacuum Mode
- Auto Mode follows its own muse. It will follow along using its sensors. You can limit the paths and segment the areas you want it to clean and to avoid.
- Path Mode Runs in a linear fashion.
- Edge Mode Runs along the baseboards.
- Spot Mode concentrates on one area. It spirals outward and then returns in the same path.
- Schedule Mode It can be set up to clean at the same time every day. It doesn’t have advanced scheduling for using at different times on different days.
- Max Mode Great for cleaning up that heavy dirt that can get tracked into certain areas. It works by pushing an On/Off button.
Mop Mode
Mopping is the damp mop style.
Mopping is controlled by the remote control. You can regulate the amount of water used based on the situation – type of flooring and amount of dirt.
The three mopping modes are Gentle, Standard and Strong.
Mop pads are reusable. For best results, wash and rinse them out immediately after using.
There’s no cleaning solution included for the mopping mode.
Sensors: Bumpers/LIDAR (Infrared)/ You have to set up boundary barriers to keep the vacuum from trying to clean rooms it shouldn’t be heading into. It doesn’t have an advanced mapping component.
It struggles with throw rugs and light weight mats. You’ll also definitely need to tie off your cables.
Anti-Drop Sensor: The V8s has three effective cliff sensors.
Control Interface: Manual or Remote Control
The buttons on the machine are easy to read. The scheduling feature is very flexible.
Warranty: One year limited warranty.

Feedback on the ILIFE V8s Robot Vacuum
What Consumers Like
People are in love with this vacuum. It has a lot of converts from Roomba fans. The happiest people were the ones that hated pulling hair out of the rollers.
Drawbacks
There are some complaints that the battery died quickly. Others said the water tank started to leak almost immediately.
Our Thoughts
First off, if you really want your floors washed, this is NOT the machine you want. This is more for damp mopping in-between a soaking wash. For the complaints that the vacuum was defective, it’s possible that there are fakes on the market.
Overall, we liked the roller-free experience but would like to see a little more suction power.
If you’re just planning on using this vacuum on solid floors with little in the way of texture, this vacuum is worth considering.
