This review looks at the Cybovac E20 by Kyvol. Designed for use on hard floors and medium-pile carpet, it looks like just about every other robotic vacuum under $200.00 dollars but it performs above its pay grade.

It has WiFi enabled and works with a proprietary app. It cleans with a roller brush, two side brushes and a HEPA filter.
Look at the features below and decide if this is right vacuum for you.

Features of the Kyvol Cybovac E20

Dimensions: 12.8 x 12.76 x 2.85 inches.

The E20 has a low enough profile to navigate under most furniture.

Dustbin Capacity: 600 ml
The dustbin is washable and easily pops out of the unit to clean. The filters are HEPA so don’t wash those.

Brushes: Three
A roller brush and two edge cleaning brushes work pretty well. The edge brushes are missing a bit at the edge (a drawback) but overall, the E20 works well enough to pick up everything in its path from hair to cereal.

The E20 ships with an extra set of edge brushes.

Charging: Charging Station or AC Adaptor
The charging station is pretty standard. You need to keep objects away from both sides as well as leaving room in the front.

Battery: 3200mAh
This is a strong battery that automatically returns to the base for recharging.

Power: 2000Pa
This is a fairly strong suction power and explains why it can pick up so much hair. It does miss some finer particles like salt and sugar if the debris isn’t directly in it’s path.

Runtime: 150 minutes
It’s a solid runtime and can be needed since it functions as a random movement vacuum as opposed to the linear paths created by Smart Mapping robot vacuums.

Cleaning Modes: Automatic, Edge and Spot
The power levels are also adjustable as needed and automatically increases when it travels over carpets and decreases when it returns to floors with a hard surface.

Auto Mode defaults to a medium suction. Spot mode works in a spiral and cleans in an area to about 3.9 feet in diameter.

It runs at 55dB so not great but not horrible.

Sensors: Bumpers/LIDAR (Infrared)
The sensors on the Cybovac are really one of the standout features of this vacuum. It has a bumper but the vacuum rarely touches anything. Instead, it pauses and negotiates around objects much like the iRobot s9+. Now, we know that iRobot has one of those most impressive navigational technologies in the world built into the i7 and s9+, so for this vacuum to even be mentioned in comparison is eye opening.

The comparisons continue with the E20’s ability to recognize dark carpets as carpets and not as holes that should be avoided. Most robot vacs stop and sound alarms around dark carpets. The E20 seems to know the difference when it’s encountering a carpet and when it’s about to drop off of the stairs.

The comparisons can stop at Edge Cleaning. The same technology that keeps it from bumping into chair legs also seems to keep it from getting close enough to the wall to efficiently clean up debris that’s lodged in the corners.

Anti-Drop Sensor: There are three cliff sensors on the Cybovac E20.

Control Interface: App, Remote Control or Voice Control (Alexa & Google Assistant)
The controls are straightforward. The remote control ships with two AAA batteries and this may be all you ever need to run the E20.

You can set No-Go areas with the magnetic boundary strip. It comes with a 6.6 foot boundary strip which can be cut down and kept in place with the 3M tape included with your purchase.

The Cybovac E20 is Wi-Fi enabled. This brings the control to another level with the use of voice control or through the Kyvol app.

You can easily create a cleaning schedule, change the cleaning mode, and control the cleaning direction by using the Kyvol app.

Since the vacuum has a low battery sensor so it will return to the charger when it’s low and it also has automatic carpet recognition, it’s pretty much a hands-off cleaning assistant.

The WiFi is on the 2.4Ghz band. Kyvol recommends not using the WiFi with a VPN or proxy server.

Warranty: The E20 comes with an impressive 18 month warranty.

That Video

Well, it’s a decent vacuum but we were having trouble trying to figure out why everyone was raving about it and showing off videos. Then, we came across this video. Forgive the amateur presentation. There are some interesting things to note about the vacuum.

Yes, it turns out that Kyvol is giving away vacuums for decent reviews on Amazon. Purchase the product, review the product, get a refund. This is a sleazy but not uncommon practice.

However, after watching the E20 in this performance test, it’s pretty obvious that this vacuum deserves that five star review.

It rolled over areas, including a black carpet, where the reviewer said that only iRobot’s i7 and s9 were able to navigate at all. In fact, they suspected the sensors were failing so they tried it on his dark kitchen counter top but it sensed the edge every time.

This is leading everyone to believe that while all of these robotic vacuums look the same on the outside, the Kyvol has more advanced sensors under the hood.

Feedback on the Kyvol Cybovac E20 Robot Vacuum

What Consumers Like

They love how it picks up hair and runs over dark carpets. The connectivity with Google Assistant and Alexa was solid. They also liked how it didn’t bump into objects to navigate. The bumper is there “just in case.”

Drawbacks

No Smart Mapping.
If you’re used to using Smart Mapping, you’ll never want to go back to a vacuum that doesn’t have this feature. It’s like going to a smaller TV screen. It doesn’t happen unless the circumstances for doing so are beyond your control.

Edge Cleaning is suspect.

Our Thoughts

The Kyvol Cybovac E20 is a solid choice for medium pile and especially for hard floors. The sensors seem to be a cut above everything else in this price range. Kyvol promotes the E20 as a great “entry level” robot vacuum and that really sums it up nicely.

If you’re looking to buy your first robotic vacuum and have no need for Smart Mapping, we recommend putting this robot vacuum to the test.

It’s a great value.
